Ralph Breaks the Internet | Review

When I heard one of my favourite recent Disney films was going to have a sequel I was really excited. ‘Wreck It Ralph‘ was hilarious, nostalgic and kept me intrigued all the way through. I wish I could say the same about ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet‘ but I really can’t.

Set 6 years later, it centres around the friendship between Ralph (John C Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman). Ralph and Vanellope enter the big unknown of the internet in search of finding a way to repair ‘Sugar Rush’ which was broken early on in the film. The story from there on in was a bit ropey and didn’t really stick together. It seemed like there were too many arcs to it and I got lost and ultimately a little bit bored when watching. The characters that the audience had grown to love in the first film, got lost and didn’t have the same appeal. This being said however, I did like some of the cameos such as; baby Groot, and the princesses who were funny and provided some much needed personality.

I really like the way they depicted the internet as this vast megacity and was wowed by the eye-catching visuals. This was about it for good points for me which is disappointing to say. I won’t say to someone to not watch a film, as people form their own opinions and everyone is different. I will say however, there are better ways to occupy your time.

Have you seen ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions. If not, then go and see it and let me know. Thank you for reading.

Mark.

I loved ‘Wreck it Ralph’. It has become my nickname at home (I am rather clumsy and heavy-handed). I hadn’t realised that the sequel was to be released! My daughters will love to go and see it (if not I’ll have to drag them there because I really want to see it!) 🙂

I loved Wreck It Ralph, I actually had no idea there was another one – I’m sure I’ll still watch it but it doesn’t sound as great as the first!

Thanks for reading! Yeah it sort of came out under the radar and didn’t hit the limelight. When are sequels actually better than the originals though?

Well said! No matter how much I wanted it too, it just didn’t have the heart of the original.

A lot of sequels do this though, they get all caught up in trying to make it better that they lose all the good things that made it such an amazing first film!
